The Dominion Post – Dr. V.K. Raju, F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S., of Morgantown, was honored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology with the distinguished “Senior Achievement Award” during the academy’s recent annual meeting.
He was recognized for his contributions to the ophthalmology profession through his work in education, research and his volunteer efforts as founder of Eye Foundation of American (EFA).
EFA’s mission is eliminating avoidable blindness in children worldwide. EFA and its volunteers provide free eye care to disadvantaged children and adults in 17 countries. “It makes me want to do more,” said Raju of his award, “Especially with regard to working with children providing eye care to children in developing countries. We are just beginning!”
