John Nguyen, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. His expertise includes the treatment of eyelid deformities, thyroid eye disease, periocular tumors, and trauma around the eye.

Dr. Nguyen joined the WVU Eye Institute and the WVU Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences faculty in 2009. He serves as a professor and the director of the Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Program. Additionally, he is a consulting staff member at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Dr. Nguyen earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2003, followed by an internship in 2004 and an Ophthalmology Residency in 2007. He completed a prestigious Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School in 2009.

A fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), Dr. Nguyen is highly regarded for his contributions to his field.
